Austin Butler has once again stolen the spotlight, this time for helping acting veteran Sally Fields onto the stage at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards over the weekend.
The 76-year-old Academy Award winner - who famously appeared as Miranda Hillard alongside the late, great Robin Williams in Mrs. Doubtfire - was heading to the stage to collect her Lifetime Achievement award, a prize given to actors displaying an outstanding achievement in the acting profession, BuzzFeed News detailed.
Past winners have included Elizabeth Taylor, Sidney Poitier, Julie Andrews, Dick Van Dyke, Morgan Freeman, and Robert De Niro.
However, Butler, 31, appeared to steal the moment from Fields as he leaped up to help her onto the stage. Not only this, but he also took the chance to help pop culture icon and White Lotus actress Jennifer Coolidge up to the podium as well.
Check out the moment below:Many netizens took to Twitter to voice their praise for Butler, who they say acted like a real gentleman. "This was my favorite moment of the night. I wish someone would interview Austin and ask him what the legend who is Sally Field said to him. They were practically having a conversation! Congrats, Sally! And to Austin, you are a true gentleman," one person wrote.
"Can we talk about the gentleman greatness that was Austin Butler and Andrew Garfield escorting and taking care of Sally Field last night? YEAH," another user added.
A third tweet read: "Austin Butler escorting Sally Field to the stage was adorable!! [...] ppl will get salty over anything."
"What a true gentleman. Also let's give some love to Andrew Garfield as well," another person added.
"The way Sally Field fixed Austin Butler's suit after he helps her to the stage," someone else chimed in.
"How fast did Austin Butler run to ensure he was the one walking Sally Field to stage," another person quipped.
Once up on the stage Field - who is the 58th recipient of the award - told the audience (via US Weekly): "Acting to me has always been about finding those few precious moments when I feel totally, utterly, sometimes dangerously alive," before discussing the trials and tribulations she experienced as a fledgling actress in the 1960s and 1970s. She then concluded by simply stating: "Easy is overrated."
Last month, Fran Drescher - who is the President of the SAG-AFTRA - sung Field's praises, saying per the outlet: "Sally is an amazing actor with an enormous range and an uncanny ability to embody any character. I joyfully watched her early career when she portrayed Gidget and the Flying Nun and then, in ever more challenging roles, as Sybil and Norma Rae."
She then added: "She has an enduring career because she is authentic in her performance and always projects likability and humanity - she just connects. That's part of why she has sustained her massive fandom and incredibly rich and layered career. Sally is a massive star with a working actor's ethos - just keep doing the work, being as good as you can."
