Authorities arrived at the scene around 4:00PM, revealing that Perry was found in an unresponsive state in a hot tub.The toxicology report from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Perry succumbed to "the acute effects of ketamine."The actor, best known for his role on the hit sitcom Friends, had been said to be undergoing ketamine infusion therapy for depression and anxiety before his passing.
"At the high levels of ketamine found in his postmortem blood specimens, the main lethal effects would be from both cardiovascular overstimulation and respiratory depression," the report read.Drowning, coronary artery disease, and the effects of buprenorphine were listed as contributing factors. launched an investigation into what led to Perry’s death after the medical examiner's ruling, and just three months later, it has been announced that five people have been charged in connection with Perry's overdose.Salvador Plascencia, a doctor, was apprehended along with fellow medical professional, Mark Chavez. Perry’s longtime assistant Kenneth Iwamasa, alleged street dealer Erik Fleming, and Jasveen Sangha, the “Ketamine Queen of Los Angeles," have also been charged for their part in the star's death.Martin Estrada, US Attorney for the central district of California, said in a press conference that they "took advantage" of the actor's substance abuse issues and "knew what they were doing was wrong."This has been reflected in Plasencia's alleged text message exchange during a conversation with a colleague in which he reportedly referred to Perry as a "moron.""I wonder how much this moron will pay," he allegedly wrote.
