Christina Applegate has opened up about a "bucket list" she wants to work through with the "days she has left".
Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in early 2021, the actress went public with her condition in August of the same year.
She also disclosed that she had noticed minor symptoms up to seven years before her official diagnosis.
Working on the final season of Dead To Me proved to be particularly challenging for Applegate.
She praised co-star Linda Cardellini and showrunner Liz Feldman for their support and flexibility in adjusting her filming schedule to accommodate her condition.
Recently, Applegate detailed the debilitating nature of MS flare-ups, which can make everyday activities like showering and sleeping extremely difficult.
Speaking on the MeSsy Podcast, co-hosted with Jamie-Lynn Sigler, she described the "intense" pain she experiences during relapses.
"My legs have never been this bad so I don’t know what’s going on," Applegate explained. "Like, no energy. Legs are just done. I can’t get circulation. I can’t get them to stop hurting."
She elaborated on her symptoms, saying: "Not being able to walk to the bathroom without feeling like I'm going to fall. Insane tingling that just has spurts of tingles that are weird coming from like my butt down."
The actress, who is very open about her health, shared her hopes and dreams in a heartfelt tweet on Wednesday.
“There are things I want to do with the days I have left in life,” Applegate wrote. “I want to work with Shirley MacLaine. And do shots with Cher! And yes my days are so big. Just saying.”
Applegate continued, expressing a long-held dream: “I wish I could work with Shirley. That’s all. Woke up and that dream I have had for my whole life, washed over me. And I wept for a minute. And I’m sure I will again. Oh and Shirley, I don’t have your number anymore so.”
In March, Applegate provided further insight into her health challenges during an appearance on the Armchair Expert podcast.
“I have 30 lesions on my brain,” she revealed. “My biggest one is behind my right eye, so my right eye hurts a lot.”
Despite these lesions not affecting her vision, MS has significantly impacted her mobility.
“My hand starts to go weird and then I’ll get a seizure-y feeling sometimes in my brain,” she explained.
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a condition that affects the brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves and those with the disease can experience a wide range of symptoms including extreme fatigue, depression, mobility issues, and sexual dysfunction.
