Elon Musk’s estranged daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson, has accused the billionaire of deliberately ensuring she was born male by selecting the embryo’s sex through in-vitro fertilization (IVF).
In a heated social media post, Wilson expressed her frustrations with Musk and his alleged expectations of masculinity, saying, “My assigned sex at birth was a commodity that was bought and paid for. So when I was feminine as a child and then turned out to be transgender, I was going against the product that was sold.”
Wilson, who legally changed her name and gender in 2022 to sever ties with her father, took to Threads over the weekend to make her claims public.
She accused Musk of going to great lengths to ensure he had sons, stating, “That expectation of masculinity that I had to rebel against all my life was a monetary transaction. A monetary transaction. A MONETARY TRANSACTION.”
Musk, who has fathered at least 13 children, welcomed his first five kids through IVF, all of whom were assigned male at birth.
However, it remains unclear whether he specifically chose the sex of the embryos, and there is no direct evidence supporting Wilson’s claim that Musk was involved in sex selection for her birth
Wilson’s post quickly gained traction, with many social media users voicing their support. One person commented, “You’re saying that he sex-selected your embryo to be male and then felt he didn’t get what he paid for? His loss, the world’s win. You’re a gem. Your bio dad doesn’t deserve you.”
Another wrote, “Wait he PAID for you to specifically have XY chromosomes and you still ended up a girl? He makes so many bad business decisions lmao.”
Others sent messages of solidarity, with one person stating, “Im so happy you found you and it’s a joy to follow your brave journey.”
This latest claim adds to the ongoing public feud between Musk and Wilson.
The Tesla and SpaceX CEO has previously spoken out against his daughter’s transition, at one point claiming he had been "tricked" into allowing her to undergo gender-affirming medical care when she was 16.
In response, Wilson has called Musk’s statements a “lie” and insisted he had full knowledge of what he was signing
Wilson has also accused Musk of being emotionally distant and “cold” throughout her upbringing, recalling incidents where he would lash out at her for not conforming to his expectations of masculinity.
In one instance, she claimed he “viciously yelled” at her during a road trip because her voice was too high
So far, Musk has not directly responded to Wilson’s recent accusations. However, his past comments indicate his disdain for what he calls the "woke mind virus," which he has blamed for his daughter's transition and their fractured relationship.
He has previously claimed that her decision to cut ties with him was influenced by left-wing ideologies taught in elite schools
With the ongoing rift between Musk and Wilson playing out publicly, it remains to be seen if Musk will address these latest claims—or if the divide between father and daughter will only grow wider.
