Freddie Mercury’s previously hidden daughter has died at the age of 48, it has emerged.
The woman, identified only as B, was reportedly born in 1976 after the Queen frontman had a brief affair with a close friend’s wife, according to new claims.
Her widower told the Daily Mail she passed away “peacefully after a long battle with chordoma, a rare spinal cancer, leaving two sons aged nine and seven”.
He added that her ashes were scattered in the Alps and she is now “with her beloved and loving father”.
Bombshell Book Unveils Hidden Relationship
Author Lesley Ann Jones detailed the revelation in her explosive book Love, Freddie, which alleges Mercury – who affectionately called her “Bibi” – kept her existence secret for decades, per The Sun.
Jones claims that Freddie’s bandmates, his family, and his long-term partner Mary Austin were aware of B’s existence but never disclosed it publicly.
Her book revealing B’s existence was published last summer.
Childhood Cancer and Family Moves
According to Jones, B’s battle with cancer began early in life.
“It’s the real reason why the family relocated quite frequently, so that they could access the best treatment at the time for chordoma: a rare form of spinal cancer that was always going to kill her,” she revealed.
Chordoma is a rare, slow-growing bone tumour that forms in the spine or at the base of the skull.
The family is reportedly considering releasing photographs of B with her father Freddie, and said she had been reluctant to go public with her story due to her career.
She was a doctor and was worried about how the news might affect her patients, it is understood.
Jones said B was very ill during the four years they collaborated on Love, Freddie.
Raised by Another Family, But Always Knew Her Father
Bibi claimed she was raised by another family but always knew Freddie was her father, with the singer visiting her frequently until his death in 1991, at the age of 45.
The secrecy surrounding her identity was allegedly upheld strictly among Queen’s members, Freddie’s family, and Mary Austin.
Although widely celebrated as a gay icon, Mercury had previous relationships with women, including Mary Austin. The former couple lived together before his public acknowledgment of his sexuality.
Handwritten Letter from B Reveals Close Bond
In a handwritten letter, B detailed her relationship with the rock legend, writing: “Freddie Mercury was and is my father.
“We had a very close and loving relationship from the moment I was born and throughout the final 15 years of his life.
“He adored me and was devoted to me. The circumstances of my birth may seem, by most people’s standards, unusual and even outrageous.
“That should come as no surprise. It never detracted from his commitment to love and look after me. He cherished me like a treasured possession.”
DNA Proof and Public Doubt
B had previously insisted she took a DNA test to confirm her paternity.
In response to online scepticism, Jones wrote on X: “To those ‘demanding’ to see proof of a DNA test, otherwise they won’t believe it – please rest assured that the requisite verification was obtained, legal teams have been involved, but that such measures are private and not shared publicly.”
Coping With Loss and Legacy
B also shared her emotional journey following Freddie’s death, saying:
“After his death, I had to learn to live with the attacks against him, the misrepresentations of him, and with the feeling that my Dad now belonged to everyone.
“I cried and mourned my Dad, while fans all around the world mourned Freddie. When you are 15 years old. it’s not easy.”
She continued, reflecting on life without her father: “Having to ‘become an adult’ without the Queen frontman and having spent the past 30 years building her ‘life and family without him’.”
B issued her statement amid controversy, after learning that Mary Austin, Mercury’s close friend and former partner, had allegedly cast doubt over her story.
According to the book, B was conceived in 1976, a year after Queen’s iconic Bohemian Rhapsody took the world by storm.
