Jennifer Lawrence caused a stir at the Golden Globes this year — and it wasn’t just for her acting.
The 35-year-old actress turned heads on the red carpet in Los Angeles on Sunday (January 11), thanks to a sheer floral Givenchy gown that some online compared to Bianca Censori’s headline-grabbing fashion moments.
A year after Kanye West’s wife faced 'public indecency' accusations over a transparent mini dress at the 2025 Grammy Awards, some fans were quick to draw comparisons to Lawrence’s bold look.
And while Lawrence may have missed out on the award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture — that honor went to Hamnet star Jessie Buckley — she’s definitely the one people are talking about after the show.
Fans divided over Jennifer’s daring Golden Globes dress
Lawrence’s see-through gown, designed by Sarah Burton for Givenchy, was adorned with pink, ivory, and green flowers, strategically placed to cover the essentials.
But the rest of the outfit left little to the imagination, sparking a flurry of mixed reactions online.
British Vogue labeled it a “naked dress” on X, prompting some sharp responses.
One critic wrote: "Oh Jennifer, no. You are classier than this." Another asked: "Ugh, we’re doing naked dresses again?" And someone else added: "Someone tell Jennifer Lawrence she’s not 25 anymore."
Still, the Hunger Games star had plenty of supporters. "Did not expect this sheer gown from Jennifer Lawrence but I'm absolutely obsessed," one fan gushed. Another praised: "Breaking all expectations in a breathtaking, sheer Givenchy gown! Really stunning."
Jennifer responds with humor
Known for her no-nonsense personality, Lawrence didn’t let the dress drama faze her. When asked on the red carpet if she planned to hit any after parties, she told ET: "I'm going to hang. I'm naked, I might as well."
She also joked about her children’s reaction to her appearance at the event, saying: "They would prefer I not be here."
Lawrence shares two sons with her husband, art gallery director Cooke Maroney. The couple welcomed their first child, Cy, in 2022 and had a second baby boy in late 2024.
Long before settling down with Maroney, the Oscar-winner adopted a Chihuahua — though she recently made headlines for having to re-home the pup, a decision that sparked controversy online.
The Hunger Games star, who shares three-year-old Cy and a second child born in 2024 with husband Cooke Maroney, admitted that an incident with one of her dogs biting her son deeply impacted how she views animals.
"One of them bit my son, and that made me want to obliterate every dog ever," she admitted, per Daily Mail. "After I had a kid, dogs became so scary, you know? It’s almost, like, I don’t recognize dogs right now. I just see them as a threat."
While she didn’t specify which dog was responsible, she confirmed that Princess Pippi Longstocking, whom she adopted in 2017, is safe, loved, and still part of the family, just from a safer distance.
