Monica Lewinsky has shared a winning response to the question "What '90s moment would have gone viral?" on social media this week.
Lewinsky, the former White House intern who was infamously accused of having an affair with President Bill Clinton - an allegation which later led to the Democrat leader's impeachment after he was further accused of lying under oath to Congress - made light of the controversy after a Twitter user posted a throwback question to the internet.
The Twitter user in question, who goes by the name 'Idris Elbow' (take a bow for that name), tweeted on Monday, March 15: "If Twitter were around in the 90s, name a famous event/moment that definitely would’ve had the TL [timeline] in shambles".
The tweet quickly accrued a lot of attention, with a large number of Twitter users posting their thoughts on what iconic zeitgeist moments would have gone viral if Twitter had been around during that decade.
For instance, one person wrote: "Ooooh lord. Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding. I mean that almost was Twitter without Twitter existing."
Another person wrote: "We would've memed the hell out of Tyson biting off Holyfield's ear. [sic]"
A third Twitter user opined: "OJ [Simpson] slow crawling with police in tow on the 101 would have melted Twitter."
A fourth quipped: "I would have deactivated after Geri [Halliwell] left the Spice Girls."
A fifth wrote: "George HW Bush vomiting on the Prime Minister of Japan," and shared a screenshot of the incident as well.
Another Twitter user wrote cynically: "People spreading fear about Y2K. Remember when that was our biggest fear and problem? "Clocks going from 1999 to 2000 and not working... that was the biggest problem we had in 1999."
However, Monica Lewinsky undoubtedly had the best answer of them all, when she referenced her own past by replying to the tweet by writing simply: "not playing".
A number of other Twitter users showed their support of Lewinsky's honesty in the replies to her tweet.
