Rihanna slammed for cultural appropriation after sharing topless snap
Rhianna is being slammed for cultural appropriation after sharing a topless snap of herself wearing a necklace featuring the Hindu god Ganesha.
In the picture, which was posted to Twitter on Tuesday (February 16), the singer, 32, can be seen wearing a pair of lavender satin boxers by her lingerie label, Savage X Fenty, paired with matching jewelry including statement earrings and a beaded necklace.
However, a diamond-studded carving of the elephant-headed deity has been slammed by the 'Umbrella' hitmaker's followers as "disrespectful".
One Twitter user wrote in response to the snap: "Why use ganesha necklace when he is worshipped in Hindu religion [sic]."
A second added: "Rihanna ! Stop Using my religion as aesthetic ! that 'Ganesh Bhagwan' Figurine at the end of the Chain [sic]."
A third remarked: "i am a hindu & it’s offensive of you to wear that ganesha necklace being topless wtf [sic]."
Meanwhile, a fourth shared a zoomed-in picture of the necklace and wrote: "This is really disrespectful to our religion."
