When choosing who to vote for in an election, most people don't want spin and bluster: they want the bare facts.
But this week Sarah Silverman, Mark Ruffalo and a number of other celebrities have taken this idiom literally after posing nude in a public service announcement encouraging voter registration.
In a new video released Wednesday by the nonpartisan organization RepresentUs, Silverman, Ruffalo, and other famous names such as Chris Rock, Amy Schumer, Tiffany Haddish, Josh Gad, Ryan Bathe, and Sacha Baron Cohen, who appeared in-character as fake Khazakstani ambassador Borat (and remained mercifully clothed).

Meanwhile, pop icon Katy Perry shared a video of herself breast-pumping on Instagram to encourage her followers to vote, which saw her sitting on a chair facing away from the camera, wearing pajama bottoms, a dressing gown, and a nude bandeau top, before turning to the camera to reveal that she was using a breast pump - all to get the public "pumped" voting.
In a caption addressed to her 107 million followers, the 35-year-old star wrote:
"GET PUMPED TO VOTE!!! Okay so @orlandobloom and I have different views on what it means to get pumped these days but whoever said pumping isn’t a sport... I’d like to twist their nipples clockwise for one week straight. [sic]"
She added:
"ANYWAY I am going to exercise my right to vote!!!! Especially if @JaneFonda says I should. We’re getting in shape for the race of our lives this November and it has never been more important to #ExerciseThatVote. [sic]"
