Some are calling for Sandra Bullock to lose her 'The Blind Side' Oscar, leaving fans furious

Following the bombshell lawsuit against the family featured in The Blind Side, some fans have called for Sandra Bullock to have her Oscar taken away from her.

The once heartwarming tale of the Tuohy family and their relationship with Michael Oher, depicted in the celebrated movie The Blind Side, has taken a startling turn as they find themselves entangled in a legal battle.

Oher claims that the much-loved movie doesn't accurately depict the true nature of his relationship with the Tuohy family.

The Tuohys, who were portrayed as Oher's guardians and saviors in the 2009 hit movie, now find themselves confronted with claims that they misled Oher into a conservatorship rather than formal adoption, allegedly reaping benefits from his triumphs, as stated by ESPN.

Oher's legal action alleges that he recently discovered the truth behind his legal status with the Tuohy family, causing shockwaves through the previously revered narrative.

The movie, which earned Sandra Bullock an Academy Award for her portrayal of Leigh Anne Tuohy, is now under intense scrutiny.

So much so, that some critics are calling for Bullock to have her award taken away from her.

One person wrote on Twitter: "So Sandra Bullock should have to give back her Oscar right, and man do we need to start checking these good feeling stories. The parents blocked $300 in earnings the movie from him getting any of it and gave the money to their real children? WOOOOOOOW!"

A second person said: "They need to take away Sandra Bullock's oscar like they took Reggie Bush's heisman for this," while a third added: "I demand we revoke Sandra Bullock's Oscar and give it to Meryl Streep."

These tweets were notably questioned by other fans, who blasted them for overreacting, as people claimed that Bullock won her Oscar for her performance and this has no relation to the story allegedly being false.

Addressing the lawsuit, Sean Tuohy, the man depicted as Oher's adoptive father, shared his family's profound distress. "Our affection for Michael remains unwavering," he expressed while disclosing that the accusations have had a "devastating" impact on his family, according to the Daily Memphian.

The lawsuit filed by Oher shines a light on his claim that the Tuohys manipulated him into a conservatorship agreement when he was merely 18 years old.

This arrangement, as Oher contends, provided the Tuohy family the opportunity to capitalize on his name and achievements.

Oher voiced his disappointment and stressed his yearning for privacy amidst this trying period. "The revelations shared in today's lawsuit have left me disheartened," he declared. "This is an arduous time for my family and myself. I kindly request everyone to respect our privacy during this juncture."

The conservatorship, initially established in 2004, was allegedly designed to assist Oher in his pursuit of a football career at the University of Mississippi. Sean Tuohy stands by the arrangement, asserting that it was put in place to ensure Oher's eligibility to play college football.

Contrary to popular belief, the lawsuit contends that the family significantly profited from the success of The Blind Side. The film, adapted from a book by Michael Lewis, amassed a staggering $309 million in box office earnings.
