The lyric causing the stir is: "Oftentimes it doesn't feel so glamorous to be me." The words were revealed at the Spotify pop-up, where they were written in red lipstick on a mirror, surrounded by photos of Swift from her Eras Tour.
While some listeners felt this line came off as out of touch with the struggles of everyday people, others have speculated that Swift might be referring to the less glamorous aspects of fame.
Some fans believe Swift is commenting on the challenges that come with her level of fame, suggesting that the lyric is an attempt to reveal the darker side of celebrity.
One commenter defended the line, writing, "She’s calling out the dark side of fame, but critics will say it’s the same old victim card in a new costume."
