It seems to war between omnivores and carnivores has heated up once again.This time, the battle ground is the Facebook page of a modest little eatery in Ireland.Less than a week ago, The White Moose Café in Dublin appeared to be a standard go-to place if you wanted to enjoy a nice meal; seemingly carrying a wide selection of meats and vegetables, and offering a variety of dishes to order, to suit those with “selective” tastes.However, the restaurant owner, Paul Stenson, had some beef (yes, a meat pun) with a vegan customer who had visited the White Moose back in August. According to Stenson, the customer was very negative about the seemingly lack of vegan offerings on the menu, and so Stenson put up a friendly little Facebook post, asking vegans to book beforehand, so the kitchen prepare a meal for you.What was about to ensue is surely an online melee for the ages:Here is Paul’s ‘Fair is Fair’ post regarding a heads up for the kitchen:However, many vegans found his post offensive, and began to retaliate with poor reviews:However, The White Moose locked horns and responded with an attractive prize draw:After an overwhelming torrent of “unfair” negative reviews, Paul flat-out banned all vegans from his restaurant… And threatened to “shoot” them:However, it seems the vegans did not see the humour in his post: Then Paul started sending very clear messages, such as updating their Facebook cover photo:An official apology was announced… but not with the most gracious send-off:[sc:MPU1] Vegans then began turning up to Paul’s restaurant in protest, however, they probably should have checked the opening times first:After Paul started receiving confusing death threats, he asked vegans to limit their threats to one sentence per vegan:Perhaps temptation could win the vegans round?: [sc:MPU1] However, it seems all the negative reviews and press had actually done the opposite of what the vegans had intended, as The White Moose became a must-visit eatery:Although, it seems some people were still hung up on the shooting threats:It seemed a thank you was in order for the vegans, as Paul’s restaurant had reached international fame:And finally, it seems the fight between vegans and omnivores is just as balanced as ever:[sc:MPU1]If this battle proves anything, it’s that online review systems are perhaps not the greatest way to just the food in a restaurant (although, it might be a way to judge the people).
