Police investigating the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie have been questioning staff at a restaurant in her hometown of Tucson as they continue retracing her movements over six weeks after her disappearance.
So far, no suspects, persons of interest, or vehicles have been identified. Savannah has also announced a $1 million reward on behalf of the family for information that could help bring her mother home safely.
The update was shared by journalist Brian Entin on his podcast Brian Entin Investigates. He claimed that detectives have been revisiting several locations featured in a TV segment filmed in Tucson, which showed Nancy spending time with her daughter, NBC broadcaster Savannah Guthrie.
According to Entin, employees at a Mexican restaurant said federal agents recently visited to ask about filming that took place there last year. During questioning, investigators reportedly asked: “Was there anyone here who looked suspicious when Savannah was here filming with her mom?”
Staff were also asked whether anyone had been “lingering around in a creepy way,” trying to take photos, or acting unusually during the shoot.
The restaurant visit is part of a wider effort to revisit locations connected to Nancy's TV appearance. Officers are taking another look at places where Nancy and her daughter were seen together publicly before she vanished, seemingly without a trace.
Nancy was reported missing after disappearing from her Tucson home in the early hours of February 1. The case quickly attracted national attention and led to a major search operation involving the Pima County Sheriff's Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Investigators have also been reviewing material linked to a Today show segment filmed last November, in which Savannah and her mother visited locations tied to her upbringing.
After Nancy’s disappearance, clips from the programme circulated widely online, prompting detectives to reanalyse the footage and return to some of the places shown.
Authorities have not confirmed whether the restaurant enquiries are directly linked to Nancy’s disappearance, but the move suggests they are closely examining any public appearances involving her in the lead-up to the case.
An earlier TV appearance from 2013 has also come back into focus. In that clip, Nancy is seen inside her Tucson home, inviting cameras into her bedroom while chatting with her daughter.
Speaking about the footage, Entin said: “It’s just so weird because the clip is actually shot in her mom’s bedroom and she was still in that house since the ’90s… it’s the same bedroom that she was, you know, likely abducted from.”
Now in its seventh week, the investigation remains ongoing, with officers continuing to pursue new leads and revisit key locations across Tucson.
